A simple and comforting dessert featuring sweet apples, rich caramel, and buttery cake, perfect for cozy fall evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans apple pie filling
  • 3/4 cup caramel sauce (or 1 bag / ~11 oz caramel bits)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1 box yellow or butter cake mix
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, sliced into thin pats or melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the apple pie filling evenly in the dish and sprinkle with cinnamon if you’re using it.
  3. Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the apples.
  4. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the top in a thin, even layer, reaching the corners.
  5. Cover the entire surface with thin pats of butter or drizzle melted butter evenly until all the cake mix is saturated.
  6. Bake for 45–55 minutes, until golden brown on top and bubbling at the edges.
  7. Let it rest for 5–10 minutes before serving warm with vanilla ice cream and extra caramel on top.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use homemade apple pie filling. Experiment with spices like nutmeg or ginger for a unique twist. Adding chopped nuts can create a crunchier topping.
