A warm and comforting dessert that combines the richness of cake with the flavors of apple pie, all made effortlessly in a crockpot.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving, optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by greasing the inside of your crockpot to prevent sticking.
  2. Spread the apple pie filling evenly on the bottom of the crockpot.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix over the apple filling, covering it completely.
  4. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  5. If you like, sprinkle cinnamon and nuts on top for added flavor.
  6. Cover and cook on low for about 180-240 minutes, or until the cake is set and edges are golden.
  7. Once done, scoop out portions and serve warm, possibly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For a crunchier topping, use less butter or let it cook a bit longer. You can use fresh apples instead of apple pie filling, and experiment with different pie filling flavors.
