A cozy and easy recipe for making sweet and spicy crockpot apple butter that captures the essence of fall.

Ingredients

  • 68 apples, peeled and chopped
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Place the chopped apples in the crockpot.
  2. Add sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and lemon juice to the crockpot and stir to combine.
  3. Cover and cook on low for 360-480 minutes or until the apples are soft.
  4. Use an immersion blender or regular blender to puree the mixture until smooth.
  5. Continue cooking for an additional 60-120 minutes uncovered to thicken the butter.
  6. Transfer to sterilized jars and follow canning instructions to preserve.

Notes

For best results, mix sweet and tart apples. Do not skip the blending step for a smooth texture.
